Discovery Initiatives (http://www.discoveryinitiatives.co.uk) has announced the launch of a new trip called A Desert Elephant Study Safari.

This new tour, to the Northwest of Namibia, is an off the beaten track wildlife safari, which enables participants to get a real feel for desert elephants with the opportunity to see desert-adapted elephants in their natural habitat, and to develop an understanding the conservation issues surrounding them.

The Desert Elephant Study Safari
(http://www.discoveryinitiatives.co.uk/discover/trip/Namibia/A_Desert_Elephant_Study_Safari) is a mobile journey travelling off well-defined tracks and roads, following dry riverbeds and crossing open plains. Accommodation will be varied and will include comfortable lodges, community campsites and one night camping ‘wild’ in the pristine and unspoiled 450’000 hectare private Palmwag Concession.

The first date for the tour is Friday 20th June 2008, and the 2nd tour leaves the UK on Friday 5th September.

In accordance with Discovery Initiatives conservation ethos, this trip helps fund Save the Rhino Trust of Namibia (SRT), which has been actively engaged in the conservation of the black rhino inhabiting the communal areas.

For further information about these or any other tours that Discovery Initiatives can organise, please contact Discovery Initiatives on 01285 643 333.
